(FAQs) FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS               HOME
Your descriptions refer to "Plates." What does that mean?
A plate is a drafting term for a drawing. If we say 4 plates, that means that there are 4 drafting-type drawings (8.5x11" or larger).  Plates are usually in a pouch at the back of the publication but in a few books, plates are separately packaged.
Can I use your Booklet plans to build a boat?
In most instances, yes, you certainly can! Full building instructions, lines and Tables of Offsets are included in these publications whenever possible. (Do take a look at our Boats you Built section to see pictures sent to us of some boats built from our plans).
I need a plan which you do not appear to have. Can you find for it for me?
Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to look for individual titles. Do, however, use our front-page Search section to be sure we do not have what you need. If not, give us a call if you like. Sometime we can send you in the right direction.
What is an "Elephant folio"?
An Elephant Folio is a binding term referring to an 11" wide by 17" tall book. Note: Explainations for other such binding terms, Duodecimo, Octavo, etc. can be found in the section called  Sample Publications

FEEDBACK - From our Customers:
"Dear David: I received the Yacht Cruising book and look forward to reading it. I saw that you protected the picture with a transparent page, I haven't seen that for ages, it is a very nice feature. The book in it's whole is very classical, practical, with a sense of luxury, Thank you again for your wonderful work."

"Dear Mr Goodchild: I just received the Griffith's book, Dream Ship. What a lovely book and a very interesting book. I knew the work of Maurice Griffith but I never had the opportunity to see this book, so I am very eager to read it. I really enjoy the red book mark. A very nice touch and the book looks like a real collectible! Very beautiful paper, with a smooth and agreeable surface. The off-white will not tire the eyess and give the drawing a warm effect. Beautiful publishing work. Thank you so much."
Publisher's note: We receive many kudoes but we are particularly proud of the above comments since they come from a well-known professional yacht designer.
"Dear Mr Goodchild: My boat plans arrived today and I have to say that I'm absolutely astounded by the quality of your product not to mention the manner of professionalism you show in your business dealings. It is treat to receive something from overseas but there is always a percentage of risk involved. This transaction has proven to be both great and risk free! Thank you once again and please be assured I will not hesitate to deal with you again."
