From the Preface--This book is intended as a contribution to the design, construction and principles of the important hobby of Model Boat: Building. It explains model boat building methods, the arrangements of keels and ballast, sail planning, the system of rating model yachts, spars and rigging, steering systems. the construction of a model sloop, a plank-built yacht, a model of John Cabot's ship, the model of a Tudor ship, a flat-bottomed steam boat, a model speed boat, a steam-driven steam boat, a 15 c.c. petrol-engined hydroplane, and a novel steering device for model boats. It will be seen that the contents deal with sailing and power boats.
