0349--MODEL STEAMERS AND MOTOR BOATS
How to Build and run Them
Edited by Percival Marshall, C.I. Mech. E.

From the Preface--The steady growth of interest in model power-boating as a hobby is the reason for the production of this handbook. It does not pretend to be a complete guide to building of all kinds of power boats, but aims at giving a general survey of the subject, with enough details of boats which have been successfully built and run to guide the hezinner in his choice of a craft and its machinery. A great deal of the pleasure of model boat-building lies in the designing and planning of the vessel and in the arrangement of the power plant. If the reader has a liking for a particular kind of vessel, such as a liner or a battleship, he can model his hull and upperworks on the lines of some well-known ship from photographs or other published information, and in the following pages he will find drawings and practical advice which will enable him to build machinery for its propulsion. The descriptions of boats and engines in this book have been selected from the pages of "The Model Engineer," which is the authority on model power-boat building.
