0345--MODEL POWER BOATS
by Edward W. Hobbs, A.I.N.A.
Vickers Gold Medalist
Author of "Model Sailing Boats"

This book aims at explaining the whole art of model power boat design and construction. It is an ambitious objective, but the gratifying success attained by the author's first work on the subject, has led to the hope that with fifteen years' added experience in designing for leading commercial firms and private owners, the present work may be as practically useful as the former, and merit a like acceptance. The opening chapters discuss model power boats in general and compare the advantages and possibilities of various types of craft. Several chapters are devoted to an examination of the fundamental principles of model naval architecture, and fully explain the methods of designing any type of model power boat. A chapter is devoted to the subject of Propellers, and others to Steam Engines, Boilers, Blowlamps, Flash Steam Plants, and Petrol Engines. The uses of electricity on model boats are fully dealt with ; other chapters are devoted to Deck Fittings, the construction of Hulls and other components. An innovation is a chapter dedicated to the claims of early steamers and paddle boats, while a glossary of technical terms usefully occupies the last chapter of the book.
