The author says that this book was written in response to thousands of letters from young (and not so young) people asking for hints on all manner of subjects relating to the care, handling, buying and equipping of small yachts. His intent, and one well met, is not for the owner of large vessels but for the small boat skipper wanting to learn the sailor's trade.
