THE GHOST PIRATES
by William Hope Hodgson
Another masterwork by Hodgson. One of the unique things about this author was his uncanny ear for language. Contrast this nineteenth century, ghostly, maritime tale with the Elizabethen language of  The Boats of the Glen Carrig . Here the slang is accurate, the accents flawless and the language fascinating. Not to mention the extraordinary story of the Mortzestus , the doomed ship attacked by the ghost pirates that repeatedly sail up from the bottom of the ocean to wreak bloody havoc on the crew.
