HOW TO MAKE A MODEL OF THE AMERICAN CLIPPER SHIP SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS
Simplifed or With Complete Details
by E. Armitage McCann, Master Mariner

A very detailed text devoted entirely to building a model of this famous clipper. From the Preface: "I long hesitated before endeavoring to describe how to make a model of a clipper ship, for my familiarity with the sailing of clippers and making models of them made me realize the intricacy of them--both in hull and rigging--and I preferred to see none made rather than poor ones. However, I have endeavoured to take the building and rigging, step by step, from the raw material to the finished model, with ample descriptions and illustrations, so that the novice with no exact knowledge of ships can make a really worth while model. To this I have added etailed data which will enable the experienced craftsman to bring his ship to an exact and perfect finish. I purposely made the original without any special tools, material or elaborate workshop, in order that anyone can follow me. I had great enjoyment in making it and think that you will find intense pleasure in the work itself and be proud and happy in the result--a scale model of the "Sovereign of the Seas."
