CANOEING, SAILING AND MOTOR BOATING:
Practical Boat Building and Handling
by Warren H. Miller
This well-known outdoorsman of his day, author of Rifles and Shotguns, Camping Out and The American Hunting Dog among others, here covers the various aspects of three principal types of boating activities. By no means does he forget his camping roots, and there is much here about shore cruising and gear and rig for small boats. This really is an encyclopedic work since it covers the building, the handling and the fitting-out of many kinds of boats, many of which are accompanied by lines drawings. The photographs of the turn-of-the-century campers are priceless. The book is divided into three parts: Sailing and Boat Building; Canoeing and Cruising ; and, Motor Boat Management and Construction. It is chock-a-block with illustrations; 74 at last count, many of which are high quality photographs with line drawings interspersed, and a lot of them of boat types not often seen today. A thoroughly well-done volume. First published in 1917.
